Hi Derek, I have just returned from the OR show in SLC and I had a chance to sleep in the production version of the Sky Bed for the first time. I pulled into a campsite well after dark and had the Sky Bed set up in about 10 minutes, complete with tree straps, my new Thermarest Neo Air, sleeping bag and pillow. The pad I used has great lateral strength to resist shoulder curl but has a sticky coating on it and proved a little hard to insert into the sleeve fully inflated.
I was sleeping in the pines in northern AZ and it got down to the hi 40’s during the night. I was comfortable from the beginning of the night. There was no cold spot under me, no shoulder squeeze and I woke up only a couple of times during the night to reposition myself. When I woke, at sunrise, I found myself on my side as I would in my bed. Still no cold spots.
I know that you are going to think that my review is going to be biased since I designed the Sky Bed, but this was the most comfortable sleep I have had in a hammock since I started hanging 10 years ago. If everything goes as expected, we should be releasing the Sky Bed in October.

Welcome back Mark! It sounds like you had a good test in the hammock. I can’t wait to try it out myself! I can’t wait to see the final version with a bug net, etc. Keep me posted!

Since Dov, the owner, was driving through my hometown en route to the Summer Outdoor Retailer Show, he was kind enough to give me a sneak peek at his new creation. Months later, Dov sent me a production sample to review. I was elated. […]
