K2 Camp Gear Double Hammock – Review

K2 Camp Gear Hammock

I reviewed the K2 Camp Gear straps not long ago and now have the chance to look at their hammock.

Product Description

The fabric is a generic crinkle taffeta nylon or “parachute nylon.” The K2 hammock is very similar to popular name-brands such as ENO, and it’s build, compression sack, and size are all very close to the ENO Double. It has a three panel design with triple stitching and uses rope loops to gather the ends. The set comes complete with a pair of wiregate carabiners.

Overall Impressions and Updates

The K2 Camp Gear Hammock is on par with the ENO Double in both size and construction. The one area where it stands out is in its lower price ($49.99), which makes it a great option for those looking for a recreational hammock or a base model for a modular system.

This is a no-frills, basic recreational gathered-end hammock. If I were grading this hammock, it would fall right in the middle of a bell curve. Honestly, if you remove the label, it’s the same hammock you’re going to find under the ENO brand or any of a dozen similar brands on Amazon or elsewhere. It has your average comfort and lay that you would find in an ENO.

Regular readers will know I’m not a fan of hammocks with the three panels design. The stitching is not very comfortable because it creates a stiff edge running the length of the hammock. This isn’t unique to the K2 Camp Gear hammock.

Recommendations and Review

Criteria Rating Notes
Suspension and Anchor System ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ The included carabiners are great, but without the webbing straps or suspension, it’s only half a hammock.
Construction and Craftsmanship ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ The hammock is on par with all “parachute nylon” hammocks coming out of China and Indonesia. Strong and robust.
Modularity ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ The basic open hammock is the beginning of any modular hammock system.
Aesthetics ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ Nothing really outstanding in terms of color and patterns.
Price and Value ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ This hammock is priced less than the competition with similar features.
