Hammock Trip Report – IPP Community Center in Delta, Utah

This past summer my family hosted a reunion at the famed IPP Community Center in Delta, Utah. Yes, it’s in the middle of nowhere and it seems like a crazy place to have a reunion, but the facility is pretty amazing and the price is reasonable (untouchable), especially if you’ve got a big family.

ABOUT THE ULTIMATE HANG

Derek Hansen

Derek Hansen is a lightweight backpacker, former Scoutmaster, and “hammock enthusiast” who enjoyed his first hammock hang at age 14 at a Boy Scout high adventure base. When he’s not out testing outdoor gear, he enjoys reading and spending time with his family.

FAVORITE HAMMOCK STYLE

I prefer gathered-end style hammocks for their simplicity and modularity.

PRO TIP

Pitching a hammock too tight is recipe for failure. Get a good sag and lay diagonally. For gathered-end hammocks, this is the best way to ensure an ergonomically flat lay that offers supreme comfort.

REGARDING INSULATION

Never underestimate the importance of good insulation in a hammock, especially underneath. I prefer down under quilts, but started with pads in the beginning. Even on hot nights, a light fleece can make all the difference.

PHILOSOPHY

I’m a minimalist at heart and prefer simple, lightweight gear for my preferred hobby: backpacking. I’m always looking for hammock gear that delights me with an innovative approach.

Praise for The Ultimate Hang

Don’t take our word for it – here’s what others are saying:

A fast, interesting, and excellent read. The illustrations really add to both reading enjoyment and clarity. The Ultimate Hang will enhance the hammock hanging experience of novice and veteran hangers alike.
