I was thinking only in a gathered end hammock making it 15’x perhaps 72” wide not a bridge hammock.

For a bridge hammock, the length is _not_ a good option to increase. I’m not sure where you heard that — I would keep it no longer than 6 inches beyond your height. That’s one advantage of a bridge style is that they don’t need as much fabric to maximize comfort. The comfort comes from the bridge design. Making them longer would do exactly as you describe — make them bow out and create a horrible experience.

I struggle with getting a flat lay. I have a Warbonnet Blackbird XLC which is 11 ft and a Dutchware 12ft, but I still can’t get it right. I’ve used the hammock calculator, but still suck at hanging most of the time as far as I can tell. Am I crazy to think even though a longer hammock should give you a flatter lay, I would still wind up being in the middle of the hammock and the more than normal fabric length would be wasteful?
thanks

Thanks for highlighting this maker. In contact with them for details, may be
ordering a Streamliner soon. I have cat cut hammock tarp which is excellent so the idea of hammock itself cat cut is a logical and good one. The question is, how deep should the side scoops be? I need to be able to see out right and left while in hammock. This is the only good aspect of the floppy sides of hammocks like Hennessey, besides usability as a chair which though nice, I rarely use. Perhaps a longer than absolutely necessary length for cat cut hammock would help with this? I agree a ridge line is essential too, that was a Hennessey invention. Maybe making this adjustable would help adjust side height to maintain side visibility, have to try it .The backpacking hammock evolution continues and I’m glad to help out the cottage industry folks who are the innovators.

Whether on a short or long hike, am always concerned about the weight I carry..
